Natural Things has spent nearly two decades helping families move everyday routines — the laundry, the washing-up, the morning shower — toward natural alternatives.
Founded in Auroville, India, and built on a single product: the deshelled soap nut. The catalog has grown. The idea hasn’t changed.
Where it started
The original laundry alternative.
Soap nuts are the dried shells of the Sapindus mukorossi tree's fruit — deshelled, dried, and left to do what they've always done: release saponin, a natural surfactant, when agitated in water.
It's the product Natural Things was founded on in 2006, sourced from the Himalayan foothills of North India, and it's still the one we're best known for.

Laundry, reconsidered
A wool ball does the job of a box of dryer sheets.
Six felted wool balls move through a tumble dryer load, separating fabric and easing static — reused for hundreds of cycles instead of thrown away after one.
Undyed, unscented New Zealand wool, felted in Nepal.
Dishwashing
Everyday washing-up, without the plastic tub.
Pre-measured tablets and dissolvable sheets, formulated as a natural-leaning alternative to conventional dishwasher detergent — and a loofah scrubber to replace the synthetic sponge.
Body + Bath
Ingredients you could name yourself.
Coffee, apricot kernel, soap nut — each scrub is built around one primary ingredient rather than a long list of processed additives.

Working close to the source has shaped how Natural Things sources materials since the beginning — not every product is Himalayan, but every product starts somewhere specific.
Auroville, India
Built in an experimental township, not a boardroom.
Natural Things was established in Auroville, Tamil Nadu — a township built around ideas of sustainable, intentional living since the late 1960s.
Nearly two decades later, that's still where the company operates from.
Packaging
Working toward packaging with no plastic in it.
Kraft paper pouches, reusable glass jars, muslin bags and cardboard boxes — Natural Things is moving its packaging toward zero-plastic across the catalog, product by product.
An early category
Bamboo and birch golf tees.
A slightly unexpected corner of the Natural Things catalog, and one of the longest-running: golf tees turned from bamboo and birch instead of moulded plastic.
